Sophie Trachtenberg, Women's Basketball

GET TO KNOW SOPHIE

Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Majors/Minor: Psychology/Hispanic Studies, HSSP

Favorite athletic moment: Beating WashU on the road my freshman year and going crazy in the locker room afterwards.

Favorite professors at Brandeis: Wendy Cadge and Sara Shostak because they are both incredible mentors, inside and outside of the classroom. They have helped me refine my research interests, introduced me to new methods, and inspired me to pursue a career in academia.

The thing that attracted me most to Brandeis: The opportunity to push myself academically and athletically, while also being able to pursue my other interests.

Favorite place on campus outside of Gosman: Farber 3 in the Library, also known as "The Dungeon".

Favorite summer opportunity: Being a cabin counselor, basketball coach, and lifeguard at a summer camp in Maine.

Thing I'll miss most about Brandeis: Having the best support system, from my teammates to my coaches to my professors.

Outside of my sport, my favorite thing to do at Brandeis: Getting involved in research! 

After I graduate, I plan to: Teach abroad and then head back to the US for grad school..

Dream Job: Social Scientist and Professor.

Favorite TV Show: Parks and Recreation.

Favorite Song: Jolene by Ray LaMontagne.

Favorite pro team: OKC Thunder.

Favorite Meal: Pho or Sushi.
