WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University saw three individuals and one relay team take home University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending March 3, 2019. The honorees were:

• Sophomore Alexander Holtmann of Bad Ueberkingen, Germany, of the men's fencing team. Holtmann won the individual men's sabre crown at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference championships on March 2 as the eighth seed in the direct elimination tournament. The Brandeis men's sabre squad won their weapon title by one point over MIT, and the Judges won the combined men's and women's six-weapon titles, edging Vassar, 104-103, for first place.
• Rookie Jada Harrison of Jericho, New York, of the women's fencing team. Harrison won the individual sabre crown for the Brandeis women, earning the top seed in the single-elimination bracket and edging her opponent by one point in the semifinals and two points in the finals. She helped the Judges to the overall six-weapon crown and the women's sabre squad to third place.
• Sophomore Anupreeth Coramutla of Monroe Township, New Jersey, of the men's tennis team. Coramutla helped the Brandeis men with their first two matches as a top-10 team in Division III last week, going 4-0 in singles and doubles. In a 5-2 win over Bryant University, he teamed with junior David Aizenberg of Highland Park, Illinois, for a 6-4 win at #1 doubles, then cruised to a 6-1, 6-1, win at #2 singles. In a match at Bates College, ranked #23 in Division III, Coramutla and Aizenberg completed a doubles sweep with an 8-5 win, then Coramutla win 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, in singles as the Judges improved to 5-1 with a 7-2 victory.
• The women's indoor track and field team's distance medley relay team. Consisting of senior Julia Bryson of Quincy, Massachusetts, sophomore Leinni Valdez of Providence, Rhode Island, senior Doyin Ogunidran of Dix Hills, New York, and senior Emily Bryson of Quincy, Massachusetts,  the quartet lowered the school record in the event to 11:41.98, which is the fastest time in Division III this season. Brandeis finished third at the NCAA Championships in the DMR last year, and they will carry the top seed into this weekend's championship meet, which will be held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
