WALTHAM, Mass – Brandeis University Director of Athletics Lauren Haynie has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Health, Wellness and Career at the University, Vice President of Student Affairs Andrea Dine announced today.
"I would like to thank Andrea and the search committee for the opportunity to serve the division in this manner," Haynie said. "I am looking forward to engaging with talented colleagues in new ways, with our shared vision of providing inclusive career, mental, and physical wellness structures for students during their time on campus."
In her four years as A.D. at Brandeis, Haynie guided the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation as they created their first strategic action plan and, as a member of the VPSA Cabinet, has taken an active role in divisional strategic planning as well as policy making for areas as diverse as personnel management, strategic initiatives, and professional development.
"Among Lauren's many qualifications is her steadfast commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion," said Dine. "I look forward to Lauren's continued contributions to envisioning and achieving Student Affairs' future success."
During Haynie's time as Director of Athletics, she served as the inaugural University Athletic Association (UAA) Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and under Lauren's leadership, Brandeis was the first school in the UAA to implement a Transgender Student Inclusion Policy.
In her new role, Haynie will provide strategic and managerial leadership for the Brandeis Student Health Center, Brandeis Counseling Center, Prevention, Advocacy & Resource Center, and Hiatt Career Center, in addition to becoming a member of the student affairs leadership team. As she transitions into the AVP role, Haynie will maintain a presence in both Athletics and Student Affairs. She will continue to serve in her current role as Brandeis plans a national search for the next Director of Athletics.
