As they have all season long, WBRS 100.1 FM will have both games, switching to women's action as soon as the men are through on Friday night. Both Brandeis basketball teams are back in the NCAA Division III tournament for the third year in a row and for the first time, the Brandeis women will host first- and second-round games. The Judges take on Western Connecticut State University in the first round on Friday evening, with Mount Saint Mary's (N.Y.) taking on SUNY-Brockport in the other game. The Judges will play at 7 p.m., preceded by the Blue Knights and Golden Eagles at 5 p.m. The winners meet at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The men travel to Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where they will take on the University of Scranton in the first round at 6 p.m. F&M takes on Wesley at 8 p.m. in the other game in that regional.

Tickets for games at both locations are $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens and are available at the door.

The Brandeis men's and women's basketball teams ended the 2008-09 regular season with 17 wins each, including four apiece over nationally-ranked teams. According to d3hoops.com, the women own the second-toughest schedule in the nation, while the men are ranked No. 11 in strength-of-schedule.

The women, who finished 17-7, 7-7 in fifth place in the University Athletic Association, earned a fourth-straight at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, making coach Carol Simon's squad the first Brandeis team since baseball from 1996-99 to reach the NCAAs in four straight seasons. The Judges are ranked No. 3 in the Northeast region in the final public regional polls release by the NCAA. The bracket was announced at 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, the Brandeis men copped their third-straight NCAA berth with a 17-8 record overall, 10-4 in the UAA. Their conference record ties a school-mark for UAA wins and was good for second place in the league. Ranked No. 8 in the Northeast region entering the weekend according to the NCAA, and with fewer at-large berths and more upsets as other leagues played their conference tournaments, coach Brian Meehan's men are in a more precarious position than the women, but early d3hoops.com projections see the Judges back in the field. Coach Meehan discussed his team's chances on d3hoops.com's Hoopsville Podcast on Sunday night, and the bracket came out on Monday morning.
