Kramer earned his first career UAA weekly honor for his performance at Brandeis’s season-opening indoor track and field meet, the Jay Carisella Invitational at Boston University on Dec. 1. Competing in the mile run, against mostly Division I and II runners, Kramer finished fourth of 28 competitors with a time of 4:17.35. A late charge put him one one-hundredth of a second behind a runner from Division II UMass Lowell competitor for third place. Kramer’s time, adjusted for competing on B.U.’s banked track, is currently the fastest in the nation in Division III according to directathletics.com.

Kramer is a 2009 graduate of North Andover High School.

Mandel, a saber fencer, was named the UAA men’s fencer of the week for the third week in a row and sixth time overall in his career. He led the Brandeis saber squad with a 7-1 record at the Brandeis Invitational on Dec. 2. Mandel won his first seven matches before dropping a 5-4 decision in his final outing, while saber squad went 3-1 on the afternoon. The squad posted wins over North Carolina, Yale and Johns Hopkins and a narrow 5-4 loss to St. Johns. As a team, the Judges went 1-3 on the day, including two 14-13 losses to Yale and UNC, a 21-6 loss to St. John’s and a 17-10 win over Johns Hopkins. Overall this season, Mandel owns a 28-2 record.
