WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University baseball team had only one fewer hit than their opponents from Emory, 8-7, but the Eagles took advantage of five walks and four hit batters, plus a trio of home runs to earn a 12-1 University Athletic Association victory on Stein Diamond today.

TEAM RECORDS

  • Brandeis: 5-14, 1-4 UAA.
  • Emory: 17-10, 6-2 UAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emory scored runs in each inning between the second and the sixth.
  • The Eagles scored on a Zach Wasserlauf single in the second and a Henry Pelinski ground-out in the second.
  • The visitors tacked on four runs on just three hits in the fourth, with RF Matthew Sicoli plating two.
  • Brandeis got its lone run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by sophomore catcher Justin Keeler (Seymore, Conn. / St. Joseph's).
  • Emory plated two more in the fifth on long home runs by 1B Tyler McLoughlin – his UAA leading eighth of the season – and outfielder Steven Hunt – his first.
  • The Eagles polished things off in the sixth after two walks and a hit batter, as 3B Jack Halloran delivered a grand slam – his fourth homer of the season – to make it 12-1, and the Eagles ended the game early due to the UAA's run rule.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
