CHICAGO, Ill. -- The host University of Chicago men's basketball team hit 61 percent from the floor in the first half (17-28), including eight-of-10 from 3-point range, and the Maroons never trailed as they defeated the visiting Brandeis University Judges, 80-65, in a University Athletic Association (UAA) showdown here tonight.

Chicago (8-11, 4-4 UAA) had four starters score in double figures, paced by junior Clay Carmody (Fullerton, Calif.), who had 15 points on four-of-11 shooting from the floor and six-of-six from the line. Three other Maroon players scored 11 points: senior Brian Cuttica (Hinsdale, Ill.), who led UC with three 3-pointers; sophomore Brandon Woodhead (Lincoln, Neb.), who also had a team-high four assists; and senior guard Justin Waldie (Mercer Island, Wash.), who had a fine all-around night with six rebounds (four offensive), three assists and a game-high three steals.

Brandeis (11-8, 4-4 UAA) had a couple of game-high performances, paced by senior center Bryan Lambert (Auburn, Maine), who scored a game-high 17 points. Lambert hit four-of-six from the floor and nine-of-11 from the free throw line. With his 17 points, Lambert moves into a tie for ninth on Brandeis' career scoring list with 1,399 points, tied with Stanley House '89. Brandeis rookie guard Florian Rexhepi (Skopje, Macedonia) led all players with six assists. Classmate Steve DeLuca (Merrimack, N.H.) also scored in double figures with 13 points.
