Brandeis men back to winning ways with 69-48 win at Clark

Worcester, MA (taken from a Clark University press release) -- The Brandeis University men's basketball team returned to its winning ways tonight as coach Brian Meehan's squad defeated his alma mater, Clark University, 69-48 in a non-conference game. Clark led 26-25 at halftime after an evenly played first half. The Cougars shot 42.9 percent from the floor and limited Brandeis to 33.3 percent. Brandeis went on a 19-8 run to start the second half to take a 10-point lead, 44-34 with 13 minutes remaining in the game. The Judges pushed the lead to 18-points with just under nine minutes to play. Brandeis shot 59.3 percent from the floor including 5-of-7 from long range while Clark shot just 34.5 percent. Brandeis’s sophomore Florian Rexhepi (Skopje, Macedonia/Phillips Exeter) led all scorers with 20 points including 2-for-4 from behind the arc. Classmate Steve DeLuca (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) chipped in 18 points and five rebounds for the Judges, who improved to 4-2. Clark’s Senior Tim Dutille (Sunappe, ME/Lebanon) had a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Dominique Beck (Brockton, MA/Dean Junior College) chipped in 15 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Cougars. Clark, fell to 3-2 and will host non-conference opponent Fitchburg State on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 pm.
