WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University junior guard Gabriel Moton of St. Petersburg, Fla., has been selected as the University Athletic Association Player of the Week for November 26.

Moton, a transfer from Boston College in his first season with the Judges, helped Brandeis to a 3-0 week last week by averaging 19.3 points, seven rebounds, five assists and 1.7 steals per game. He shot 64.5 percent from the field (20-31) and 78.9% from the line (15-19) as the Judges defeated UMass Dartmouth (87-59), Tufts (84-69) and Salem State (78-61). The latter two wins came in the Fourth Annual New England Big Four Challenge tournament at Brandeis as Moton led the Judges to the title and earned Most Valuable Player honors.

After scoring 11 points with five assists and three rebounds against UMass Dartmouth on Nov. 20, Moton had career-highs with 28 points and 10 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double on Nov. 24 against Tufts. He scored 10 of Brandeis's 12 points in a four-minute span midway through the second half to blow open a three-point game in the opening round. Moton closed the weekend with 19 points, eight boards and six assists in the title-game win over Salem State on Nov. 25.

Moton also recorded a double-double in Brandeis's most recent game, a 67-58 win over Clark in which he had 13 points and 10 caroms, including a key 3-pointer to extend a four-point lead to seven in the final minute of play. Five games into the season, Moton leads the Judges and ranks fifth in the UAA in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game. He is also third in the league and tops among guards in rebounding at 7.8 boards per game and tied for fourth with 5.0 assists per contest.

Moton is a 2010 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. He led the Green Devils to a FHSAA Class 6A championship game as a senior, earning  All-Pinellas County first-team and St. Petersburg Times All-Suncoast second-team honors. Moton played in 63 games over his first two years at Boston College, including three starts before transferring to Brandeis this season.
