ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Brandeis University men's basketball team suffered a 72-44 loss at the hand of 20th-ranked Washington University this afternoon in St. Louis. The Judges fall to 9-15 on the season, 4-9 in the University Athletic Association. The Bears improve to 19-5, 8-5 UAA, and sit a game behind Emory in the conference standings with one game left to play.

The Judges had a season-low scoring output today, shooting just 32 percent (18-57) from the field overall and 16 percent (3-19) from 3-point range. Brandeis's top scorer was sophomore Tim Reale (Mason, Ohio/St. Andrews School), who notched 11 points on 5-of-9 from the floor and 1-of-2 from the line. Sophomore guard Robinson Vilmont (Cambridge, Mass./Wilbraham and Monson) had nine points and a season-high five assists, one shy of a career-best. Grad student Connor Arnold (Andover, Mass./Deerfield Acad.) grabbed six rebounds, though the Judges lost the battle of the boards, 41-28. 

Washington put three starters in double figures. Senior Nick Burt scored 11 of his 19 points in the second half. He also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Classmate Matt Palucki added 16 points, while junior Luke Silverman-Lloyd added 12 of his 14 points in the second half, when the Bears outscored the Judges, 45-26. Senior David Fatoki dished out four assists. WashU hit 55 percent (30-55) from the field, outscoring Brandeis 40-22, in points in the paint.

Brandeis closes out its 2015 season next Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. against NYU.
