Cooper, D'Aguanno named ECAC Player and Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandeis University junior forward Jordan Cooper of Weston, Florida, has been selected as the ECAC Division III New England Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while rookie Eric D'Aguanno of Saunderstown, R.I., was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week.

      Cooper led the Judges in scoring and rebounding in a 2-1 week, averaging 18 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor, 82 percent from the line and two-for-two from 3-point range. Cooper scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in a non-conference win over Dean College for his first collegiate double-double. He had 14 points and three boards in a four-point University Athletic Association (UAA) conference loss to Carnegie Mellon, then notched 14 of his 17 points in the second half of an 83-66 win over Case Western Reserve in which the Judges erased a 15-point first-half deficit.

D'Aguanno was Brandeis's leading scorer in their two wins this week. He had a career-high 24 points in 23 minutes on the road at non-conference opponent Dean College and 19 points in 26 minutes against Case Western Reserve. In the two wins, he hit 12-of-24 from three-point range and 15-of-30 overall. In the Judges' loss to Carnegie Mellon, he was held scoreless in 12 minutes of play.

Overall this season, Cooper leads Brandeis in scoring at 15.7 points per game and is second in rebounding at 5.8 boards per contest. He is sixth in the UAA in scoring and leads the league and is 16th in Division III in free throw shooting at 91.2% from the line.

D'Aguanno is averaging 6.8 points per game, fifth-best on the team. He is second on the squad with 24 3-pointers and is one of four Judges shooting 40 percent or better from 3-point range (41.4%)

Brandeis is currently 6-7 on the season and 2-1 in the UAA, one game behind the leaders. The Judges are back in action this weekend at the University of Chicago on Friday evening and at Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday afternoon.

Cooper is a 2014 graduate of Sagemont School.

D'Aguanno is a 2016 graduate of St. Andrew's School.
