CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Brandeis men's basketball team put four starters in double figures in scoring, but host Case Western Reserve was hot from downtown, connecting on 17 3-pointers to lead the Spartans to an 88-66 University Athletic Association victory today. The defeat drops the Judges to 7-14 on the season, 3-8 in the UAA. CWRU improves to 7-15, 2-9 UAA with their second conference win in a row.

FOR THE JUDGES

• Senior Robinson Vilmont (Cambridge, Mass./Wilbraham and Monson) recorded his third double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
• Vilmont also led the team with four assists and three steals.
• Senior Tim Reale (Mason, Ohio/St. Andrews, R.I., School) and junior Nate Meehan (Lowell, Mass./Phillips Andover) each tallied 13 points, while senior Jack Fay (New Rochelle, N.Y./Suffield Acad.) added 12.

FOR THE SPARTANS

• Case countered with six different double-digit scorers.
• Sam Hansen led all scorers with 18 points on a perfect 6-for-6 from 3-point range.
• Point guard Javier Alvarez added 14 points and two assists, while center T.J. Duckett had 12 points and matched Vilmont for game-high honors with 10 rebounds.
• CWRU got 10 point each from Colin Zucker, Regan Mohler and Michael Hollis.
• The Spartans' 17 3-pointers were one shy of tying the UAA record. They had six different players with at least two trifectas.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brandeis scored the first four points of the game to take an early lead.
• Zucker and Mohler dialed long distance to give CWRU a 6-4 lead.
• A lay-up by Fay and a Latye Workman (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bedford Acad.) jumper gave the Judges their final lead of the game at 8-6 just under seven minutes into the contest.
• Zucker answered with his second 3-pointer to spark a 10-0 run, and the hosts never trailed again.
• Brandeis would get within one with 4:37 to go after Meehan was fouled while shooting a 3 and hit all of his foul shots, followed by a Workman fast-break lay-up that made it 24-23
• Hansen answered from downtown as Case closed the half on a 13-4 run that made it 37-30 at the break.
• The closest the Judges would get in the second was four after an early Fay 3-pointer.
