WALTHAM, Mass. – Three members of the Brandeis University men's basketball team have earned All-University Athletic Association honors for the 2021-22 season. Graduate students Collin Sawyer of New London, Connecticut, and Tommy Eastman of Honeoye Falls, New York, were named second-team All-UAA, while senior Nolan Hagerty of Yarmouth, Maine, was named honorable mention.

Sawyer was honored by the UAA for the second time, having been a first-team All-UAA selection in 2020. He finished second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game, eighth in the conference. His team-leading 62 3-pointers were fourth-most in the conference, while his 85.4 free-throw percentage was third-highest. Sawyer scored in double figures in 20 of the Judges' 24 games, notching more than 20 points in a game six times, including a career-high 29 points in the final game of his career, a 74-57 win over NYU on February 27. Sawyer also had 25 points in the J

Sawyer concludes his career 15th on the Judges' career scoring list with 1,335 points and third with 230 3-pointers. His career 3-point percentage of 39.7 ranks 10th all-time, while his 83.0 free-throw percentage is fourth.

This is the third All-Conference selection for Eastman, all in different leagues. He was a second-team selection in the SUNYAC at Geneseo State in 2019, in the NESCAC at Middlebury College in 2020, and now in the UAA as a graduate transfer to Brandeis. He led the Judges and was seventh in the conference in scoring at 15.8 points per game, just ahead of Sawyer. He also led the team and finished fourth in the league with 7.2 rebounds per game, while his 119 defensive rebounds were sixth overall. Eastman also finished second on the team in assists, averaging 2.3 per game. Eastman, who missed five non-conference games in November and December to injury, scored in double figures 14 times this season, including 10 times in 14 UAA contests. He had four games scoring more than 20 points, including the team's season-high of 35 points in an 86-80 overtime loss to conference champions Emory on February 4. He recorded a pair double-doubles, including a 14-point, 10-rebound performance against Rochester in UAA play, a 66-61 Brandeis win on January 23.

Eastman finished his career with 1,220 points across the three institutions, as well as 667 rebounds and 176 assists.

Hagerty was recognized by the UAA for the first time. He was the team's third-leading scorer at 10.6 points per game, and was second in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game, fifth in the UAA. He led the Judges and was fourth in the league in field-goal percentage, hitting 59.3% from the floor. Hagerty also topped the squad with 1.1 blocks and 1.0 steals per game, the only Brandeis player to average more than one per game in either category. He also tied for this on the Judges with 2.1 assists per game. Hagerty's 72 offensive rebounds were second-most in the conference. Hagerty scored in double figures 14 times and had 10 or more rebounds six times, making for five double-doubles on the season. Hagerty had 21 points and 12 rebounds in the Judges' recent 84-65 win over then-17th-ranked Washington University on February 20, and he had 18 points and 13 boards in a non-conference win over UMass Dartmouth on November 27.

Hagerty ends his Brandeis career with 513 points in three seasons, playing in all 78 contests of his career with 45 starts. His 58.2 percent career field-goal percentage will go down as tops all-time in Judges' history, edging Hall of Famer Tom Haggerty '69 (no relation). His 59.3 percent shooting this season was the sixth-best season in program history. Hagerty also collected 420 rebounds and had 142 assists, 61 blocked shots – 10th all-time at Brandeis – and 41 steals in his career.

The Brandeis men's basketball team finished the 2021-22 season with a 15-9 record, 6-7 in the UAA, finishing in fifth place. The Judges will have to replace their top four scorers, top three rebounders and top four assist men for next season.
