WALTHAM, Mass. – Rookie Julian Cardillo of Medford, Mass., was selected as a University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's fencing for the week ending February 27, 2011.

Cardillo, helped the Judges to a third-place finish and the team to a second-place combined finish at the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference championships.  Cardillo won the individual foil title by going 10-0 and out touching his opponents 23-10 in the semifinals and 25-12 in the final round.  He also posted a 9-2 record in the team competition.

Cardillo is a 2010 graduate of St. John's Preparatory School.
