WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University fencing teams combined to post four wins today at the 2022 Brandeis Invitational, with the men's and women's teams each winning twice in the Gosman Athletic Center.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- The Judges' best round of the day came against Division III rivals MIT, when both the men and women won by 16-11 scores. The men were paced by a 7-2 win sabre, while an 8-1 win in foil was decisive for the women.
- The Brandeis women followed up with a narrow 14-13 win over Tufts. All three weapons were decided by 5-4 scores, with Brandeis taking the wins in sabre and epee and the Jumbos capturing foil. Senior Maggie Shealy (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) had the decisive sabre win, while sophomore Calla Lee (Duluth, Ga. / Lambert) had the win for the epeeists.
- The men's other win came in the opening round against Cornell with a 15-12 win thanks to a 7-2 advantage by the sabre squad that balanced 5-4 wins by the Big Red.
- Overall, the men's sabre squad had the team's best day, going undefeated in five matches, all decided by 7-2 or 6-3 scores.
- Sabre also had the best day for the women, going 3-3 on the day.
