-- The Brandeis University men's soccer team scored once in each
half tonight to get past Endicott in the season opener for both
teams.

junior midfielder Mike Snyder (Ashby, Mass.). Judges's senior
co-captain Shelton Stewart (Clarendon, Jamaica) added an insurance
goal with less than eight minutes remaining in the contest on a
blast from the right corner of the 18-yard line.
The Gulls (0-1) applied some early pressure in the second half but
could not break through. Freshman Mike DeNuzzo (Guilford, CT) hit
the crossbar on a rocket from inside the 18-yard line before
Stewart sealed the game with an insurance goal.
Endicott got solid defensive play from Dan Duvernoy (Hamilton, NY),
Erik Booth (Belchertown, MA) and Chris Croteau (Groveland, MA)
while Josh Lewis (Groveland, MA) played well up front and Kyle
Austin (Keene, NH) stood out at midfield.
Brandeis's next contest is Thursday, Sept. 8 at Wentworth Institute
of Technology.
