SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (taken from an SC press release) --
Springfield College junior forward Matt Aucoin (Canton, Mass.)
tallied a goal and an assist as the Pride defeated visiting
Brandeis University, 4-2, tonight in non conference action on Brock
Affleck Field.
Pride (2-10-1) senior forward Justin Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.)
started the scoring early with an unassisted goal in the sixth
minute of play. Just ten minutes later, SC sophomore midfielder Ted
Feeley (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored on a header assisted by Aucoin and
sophomore forward Colin Cook (Wilbraham, Mass.) to give the Pride a
two-goal advantage with 29 minutes to play in the period.
The Judges (6-7-1) would not go down easily as freshman forward Ben
Premo (Florence, Mass.) tallied two consecutive goals (23:01,
27:16) to even the score with less than twenty minutes remaining in
the first half. Premo's second goal was assisted by sophomore Evan
Duval (Wilbraham, Mass.) and was the final goal of the half.
Less than five minutes into the second half (49:52) Aucoin scored
off Cook's second assist of the game to give the Pride a 3-2
advantage. In the 60th minute of play Pride freshman defender
Jeremy Scheer (Enfield, Conn.) headed away the potential game-tying
goal by Premo, to keep the score at 3-2, as the ball got around SC
junior goalkeeper Ryan Driscoll (Wilmington, Del.). With 19:30 left
in the game, Pride sophomore forward Michael Burke (Loudonville,
N.Y.) put SC on top for good, 4-2, with an unassisted goal.
Driscoll recorded five saves for the Pride in net while Brandeis
senior goalkeeper Pat Makridakis (Mendon, Mass.) tallied four
saves.
