WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University and Washington University men's soccer teams battled for 110 minutes today and were unable to come to a decision as the Judges and Bears fought to a 2-2 draw in University Athletic Association (UAA) action tonight. The game was the first-ever played under the lights of Brandeis's Gordon Field.

After a scoreless first half, Brandeis (6-7-2, 0-3-2 UAA) drew first blood just under four minutes into the second stanza. Rookie standout Ben Premo (Florence, Mass.) intercepted a Washington University pass, dribbled around a couple of defenders and blasted a ball off the crossbar and in.

WashU (8-5-4, 1-3-1 UAA) evened the score in the 54th minute on an own goal, when a Bear corner kick was deflected into the net by a Brandeis defender.

Premo answered just three minutes later as sophomore back Joe Levitan (Balitmore, Md.) threaded a pass between two Washington defenders to Premo, who tallied his team-leading ninth goal of the season. It was his second multiple-goal game of the season.

The Bears equalized again in the 70th minute when senior midfielder David Borton (Seattle, Wash.) one-timed a pass from sophomore forward Marshall Plow (Solon, Ohio). It was Borton's third goal of the season.

In the extra session, the visitors had more chances to score, but Brandeis senior netminder Pat Makridakis (Mendon, Mass.) made five stops. WashU had a potential game-winner in the fifth minute of the first overtime called back on an offsides. The call offset a Brandeis goal that was denied early in the contest.

Overall in net, Makridakis finished with 10 saves, while Washington senior Eric Moore (Bartlett, Ill.) had five stops for the Bears.

Brandeis next takes on the University of Chicago Sunday at 11 a.m., while Washington heads to New York University, also Sunday at 11 a.m.
