AMHERST, Mass. (information taken from an Amherst College press release)-- The #3-ranked Brandeis University men's soccer team met #2-ranked Trinity (Texas) University for the second time this season today, and the Judges were unable to get past the Tigers, again falling by a 2-0 score in the third round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. The Judges end their season with an 18-3-1 record. 

The Judges fell to Trinity on Sept. 5 after surrendering two goals in the first five minutes. The Tigers wrote a similar script this time, scoring in the 10th minute when the Judges were unable to fully clear a ball in the box. It landed at the feet of Trinity's Christian Sakshaug, who slotted it home for the game-winner. 

Trinity added a key insurance goal late in the first half, when Brent Mandelkorn fed Austin Michaelis, and Michaelis blasted it just inside the near post in the 43rd minute. 

In the second half, junior Evan Jastremski (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) had a couple of chances to pull Brandeis to within one when his shot in the 71st minute was saved by TU's Chad Margotta, while Jastremski's attempt eight minutes later sailed high.

Late in the contest, senior back Conor Lanahan (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) lined up a dangerous free kick just outside the box, but Margotta was able to fend off the shot and keep the shutout intact.

Trinity owned a slim 17-15 edge in shots, outshooting the Judges by one in each half. Brandeis sophomore Ben Woodhouse (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) made a career-high seven saves in the loss, but it wasn't enough. 

The Judges end their season in the Sweet 16 at Amherst for the third time in four years, with a trip to the Elite Eight last year when the sectional was held in Oneonta, N.Y. The Brandeis seniors graduate with a school-record 71 wins and overall record of 71-14-4.
