BRONX, N.Y. – The Brandeis men's soccer team doubled up their opponents in shots and tripled them in corner kicks, but host NYU scored with just 15 second left in the second overtime period to take a 1-0 University Athletic Association (UAA) victory in Gaelic Park in the Bronx today. With the defeat, the Judges end their season with a record of 7-9-2, 2-4-1 in the UAA. NYU ends their regular season at 12-4-1, 3-3-1 UAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Judges outshot NYU, 17-8, in regulation, and had an 11-3 corner kick advantage, but could not find the back of the net.
• Violet goalkeeper Grant Engel made seven saves in regulation to help get his team to overtime.
• Brandeis had the only shot in the first OT session, but it was not on goal.
• Each team had two shots in the second extra period, but it was NYU who got the game-winner with just 15 seconds on the clock.
• Rookie Isaiah Boyd sent a long ball to classmate Oliver Kleban, who headed it around Brandeis goalie Greg Irwin (Passaic, N.J./Seton Hall Prep), who was screened by another Violet player. Kleban deposited it into the empty net for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.
• Brandeis had won a similar 1-0 game earlier in the season, defeating Emory with just 15 seconds left on the clock.
• This was the Judges fourth overtime conference game. They finished with a 1-2-1 record in those contests and 1-3-2 overall in overtime this season.
• Irwin finished with five saves in the losing effort, while Engel had eight for the win.
• Brandeis finished up with a 20-10 lead in shots and 12-4 edge in corner kicks.
• With the loss, Brandeis will see a streak of six-straight NCAA tournament appearances and eight-straight postseason berths snapped.
