Irwin earns second UAA Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior Greg Irwin of Passaic, New Jersey, has been named the University Athletic Association Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27th.

Irwin was honored for his performance against Springfield College on Wednesday, October 23, when he made a career-high nine saves to defeat the Pride, 2-0. The shutout was his seventh of the season. Irwin now leads the UAA with 68 saves and ranks second with an .872 save percentage and third with an 0.61 goals-against average. He now had 13 career shutouts and an 0.67 career goals-against average.  

This is Irwin's second UAA weekly award of the season. He was previously recognized on Sept. 29th.

The Judges, with an overall record of 9-3-4, return to action this weekend with a pair of key UAA road games. They meet Emory on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. and the University of Rochester Saturday afternoon at 1:30.

Irwin is a 2016 graduate of Seton Hall Prep.
