Men's tennis downs Babson, 8-1

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis men's tennis team got back to winning ways today with a decisive 8-1 win over rival Babson College. The Judges improve to 6-9 on the season, while the Beavers fall to 5-7.

Brandeis was led by junior Seth Rogers (Gainesville, Fla/Eastside), who lost just two games on the day. Rogers teamed with sophomore Mayur Kasetty (Northboro, Mass./St. Johns) for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, and then proceeded to take a 6-0, 6-1, decision at No. 3 singles. Senior captain Scott Schulman (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) also won a set at love, winning 6-0, 6-4, at No. 1 singles in his first match of the season in the top spot. Schulman and sophomore Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) were 8-3 victors at No. 1 doubles. Miller went on to a 6-3, 6-1, win at No. 2 singles.

Babson's only victory came at No. 5 singles, where junior Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) won in a third-set super-tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.
