Schulman wins, but men's tennis falls to Tufts, 8-1

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The  Brandeis men's tennis team, facing an opponent from the NESCAC for the fourth-straight match, dropped an 8-1 decision at Tufts University despite some quality play at the top of the line-up.

The Judges dropped to 5-7 with their fifth straight loss. Senior Scott Schulman (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) provided the Judges' only win, with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. He won the first set in a 7-5 tiebreaker. Schulman and sophomore Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) nearly earned a point in doubles action, falling 9-7 at No. 1 singles. Miller also had a tough loss at No. 1, falling in a third-set super-tiebreaker, 11-9, after splitting the first two sets, falling 6-2 in the first and winning the second, 6-3.
