Miller and White advance to ITA doubles quarterfinals

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The senior duo of Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) and Nick White (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2010 Intercollegiate Tennis Association New England regional today at Williams College. The top-seeded duo will return to action tomorrow at 9 a.m. as they attempt to earn a berth at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships, held October 14-17 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.

Miller and White opened the tournament with a convincing 8-1 win over Harry Altman and Greg Poulin from Wheaton College. They advanced to the quarters with an 8-5 win over Will Petrie and Dylan Page from host Williams College. Up next for the Judges are Wes Waterman and Moritz Koenig of Amherst College.

The Judges did not fare as well in singles action. Sophomore Freddy Rozenshteyn (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) was the only Brandeis player to win a match, topping Middlebury's Dave Farrah, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, before bowing to sixth-seeded Matt Bettles of Bates, 6-2, 6-2. Miller and sophomore Steven Milo (Westport, Conn./Staples) each dropped first-round matches, while White, the eighth seed, was upset in the second after receiving a bye.
