WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis men's tennis team swept all three doubles matches from 24th-ranked Trinity (Conn.) College, but the Bantams rallied to take five of six in singles action and escape with a 5-4 win.

Brandeis (4-10) got offf to a hot start, as senior Ezra Bernstein (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors School) and junior Dave Yovanoff (Eden, N.Y./Eden) picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while juniors Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) and Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) won by the same score at No. 2. For Milo, it was his first match since March 10th. The Judges completed the doubles sweep at No. 3 when rookies Michael Secular (Bronx, N.Y./Plant, Fla.) and Alec Siegel (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield North) won a tiebreaker, 7-2, for a 9-8 win.

Unfortunately, the Judges could not sustain their momentum into singles action, where Trinity (8-5) won all five of their points in straight sets. Bernstein earned the Judges' only singles win after the match had been decided, 7-5, 4-6, 10-5, in a third-set super tiebreaker at No. 4.  Secular and Siegal had the next-closest sets. Siegel fell, 7-5, in the first at No. 3 before dropping a 6-1 decision to Jugal Marfata of the Bantams in the second, while at No. 5, Secular took Ned Mandel to a tiebreaker in the second before bowing, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

The Judges return to action Sunday at 11 a.m. in their home finale against Division I Bryant University.
