Men's tennis falls in regular-season finale, 8-1, at #20 MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- In their final tuneup before the 2013 University Athletic Association championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla., the Brandeis men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to 20th-ranked MIT on the road.

The Judges' lone point came at No. 2 singles, where rookie Mitch Krems (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Century Acad.) outlasted Larry Pang, 2-6, 6-4-, 6-4. Senior Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) was edged at No. 1 singles in a third-set super-tiebreaker. Milo won the first set, also in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), but the Engineers' Edwin Zhang prevailed, 6-4, 10-6 in the third. Fifth singles also came down to a super tie-breaker in the third, where Brandeis sophomore Michael Secular (Bronx, N.Y./Plant, Fla.) fell to MIT's Tymor Hamamasy, 6-2, 5-7, 10-6.

Brandeis opened UAA play on Friday afternoon in the Orlando area against #14 Washington University at 9 a.m.
