#29 men's tennis drops 7-2 decision to #10 Carnegie Mellon in UAA quarters

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Brandeis men's tennis team, ranked No. 29 in Division III, fell to 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon in the opening round of the 2015 University Athletic Association tournament today at San Lando Park in Florida. The Judges fall to 8-10 on the season, while the Tartans improve to 15-7.

Brandeis fell behind CMU, 2-1 after doubles. The Judges picked up their first point at No. 2 doubles, where the pairing of Michael Arguello (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) and Jeff Cherkin (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) knocked off Brice Besswanger and Yuvraj Kumar with a late break of serve, 9-7. The Tartans took the top five singles matches, with Brandeis's lone win coming in the only three-set match of the day at No. 6, where junior transfer Eric Miller (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker) edged Edward Ang, 6-4, 5-7, 10-5. 

Brandeis will meet the University of Rochester in the consolation semifinals tomorrow at 2 p.m.
