WALTHAM, Mass. – The #28 Brandeis men's tennis team beat UAA rival University of Rochester 7-2 on Saturday, improving to 3-3 on the season. The YellowJackets fell to 3-7.

The doubles matches were played indoors at Gosman Athletic Center, with Rochester taking two of the three tightly contested matchups. Brandeis' lone win came at the No. 1 matchup, as juniors Jeff Cherkin (Melville, N.Y. / Half Hollow Hills East) and Michael Arguello (Brentwood, Tenn. / Brentwood) won 8-6. Rochester won the No. 2 matchup 8-5, and the YellowJackets' Andrew Nunno and Ben Shapiro needed an extra game to win 9-7 over Judges' rookie Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y. / Great Neck South) and junior Ryan Bunis (Cincinnati, Ohio / Groton-Dunstable).

Play moved outdoors to Rieger Tennis Courts for singles matchups, which the Judges dominated, sweeping all six. Junior Brian Granoff (Miami, Fla. / Gulliver Prep.), Arguello, Ng, and senior Danny Lubarsky (Cleveland, Ohio / Hawken School) all handled their opponents easily; they all won in straight sets by at least three games per set. Bunis beat Masaru Fujimaki in the No. 1 matchup 6-1, 7-6 (5), and rookie Zach Cihlar (Phoenix, Ariz. / Brophy College Prep.) took the No. 6 matchup in three sets, 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3.

The Judges play again next weekend at home, facing Wheaton (Mass.) on Friday, March 25 at 3 PM.
