#23 men's tennis drops 9-0 decision to #7 WashU in UAA quarters

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Brandeis University men's tennis team, ranked #23 in Division III, suffered a 9-0 loss at the hands of #7 Washington University in their University Athletic Association tournament opener today at Sanlando Park in Florida today.

Brandeis's most competitive match came at No. 1 singles, where junior Ryan Bunis (Cincinatti, Ohio/Groton-Dunstable, Mass.) took the second set, 6-3 but fell to WU's John Carswell, 6-0, in the first and third. Classmate Brian Granoff (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) fell at No. 2, 7-5, 6-1, to Johnny Wu, while junior Michael Arguello (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) extended Tyler Kratky in the first set before falling in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1. 

The Judges fell behind after doubles play, dropping 8-4 decisions at Nos. 1 and 2. 

Brandeis falls to 8-8 with the loss and will meet the University of Rochester tomorrow afternoon in the consolation semifinals. The Bears improve to 15-4 and will face the University of Chicago in the championship semis.
