WALTHAM, Mass. — Five members of the Brandeis University men's tennis team have earned All-University Athletic Association honors today. Seniors Michael Arguello of Brentwood, Tenn., Ryan Bunis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brian Granoff of Miami, Fla., were all first-team selections, while rookie David Aizenberg of Highland Park, Ill., and sophomore Tyler Ng of Great Neck, N.Y., were second team honorees.

Granoff was the Judges' lone first-team selection at singles. He finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 17-6, while his 11-1 record at No. 2 singles was the top winning percentage in the UAA this season. Granoff finished his career with 106 wins combined in singles and doubles, second among all players under head coach Ben Lamanna. Granoff is Brandeis's first first-team All-UAA singles honoree since 2005.

Arguello finished one win ahead of Granoff on the career combined wins list with 53 singles and 54 doubles victories for 107 wins. He and Bunis were named first-team All-UAA at No. 1 doubles, while Arguello added second-team singles honors as well. In doubles action, Arguello and Bunis led All-UAA No. 1 doubles tandems in wins with 11 and winning percentage at .733 (11-4). Arguello also led the Judges in singles wins this season, going 19-11, as he reached the finals of the ITA New England Regional in the fall. He went 8-2 at No. 3 singles in dual matches. For Bunis, who was a second-team All-UAA selection at No. 4 singles as a freshman, he wrapped up his career with 63 wins, 41 singles and 22 doubles.

Aizenberg and Ng were named second-team All-UAA at No. 2 doubles. At that position, they were third in the UAA with 10 wins and fourth with a .667 winning percentage (10-5) in matches against Division III opponents. Ng and Aizenberg's 16 overall wins, including six during fall tournaments, made them the second-winningest doubles team in the UAA. They were one of the youngest doubles teams honored, as only three of the nine All-Association doubles honorees were both sophomores and rookies. Ng was also named honorable mention at No. 4 singles.

Overall this season, the Judges went 12-8 and finished in fifth place in the UAA. The win total tied the 2006-07 squad for the most wins in coach Ben Lamanna's tenure, while their UAA finish was their best since 2010. The Judges reached a No. 19 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III national rankings during the season, also Lamanna's best showing and the program's best since 1989. During the course of the season, the Judges defeated four teams ranked ahead of them in the ITA poll.
