#18 men's tennis takes Battle of Waltham, 7-2, over Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team won their annual battle for Waltham today as the Judges defeated the Falcons, 7-2, on their Rieger Tennis courts in the first outdoor match of the season. The win is the Judges' sixth in a row and improves their record to 11-2 on the season. The Falcons fall to 13-8.

Brandeis's scheduled was shuffled slightly, but it didn't stop the Judges from the doubles sweep. Rookie Anupreeth Coramutla (Monroe Township, N.J./Phillips Andover) teamed with senior captain Eric Goldberg (Solon, Ohio/Solon) for an 8-6 win at No. 3 to open the scoring. Junior Jackson Kogan (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Windward School) and junior Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) followed with an 8-4 win at No. 1, while rookies Nikhil Das (Smithfield, R.I./Moses Brown School) and Rajan Vohra (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) completed the sweep, 8-3, at No. 2.

Bentley got on the board in singles action when George Samander knocked off Kogan, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2. Vohra earned a win in his first-ever match at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Coramutla played No. 6 singles and clinched the victory, 6-3, 6-4. Das emerged as a 6-3, 6-4, winner at No. 3 in the final straight-set win for the Judges. Junior Ethan Saal (Scarsdale, N.Y./Abraham Joshua Heschel School) survived a third-set super tiebreaker with Brett Gilman, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, The Falcons closed out the scoring with a marathon at No. 4 as Daniel Weitz topped Ng, 2-6, 7-5, 16-14.

The Judges will put their six-match win streak on the line against to No. 2-ranked Bowdoin on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Bentley hosts Southern New Hampshire University tomorrow at 3 p.m.
