#10 men's tennis rolls past #23 Bates, 7-2

LEWISTON, Maine -- The #10-ranked Brandeis University men's tennis team went on the road today to defeat #23 Bates College, 7-2. The Judges improve to 5-1 with the win, while Bates falls to 2-2.

The Judges doubles play was strong once again, allowing them to take a 3-0 lead with the sweep. It was rookies Jeffrey Chen (Northfield, Ill. / New Trier) and Adam Tzeng (Eagle,
Idaho/Eagle) who put Brandeis on the board at #2, by a score of 8-2, while at #3 rookie Colt Tegtmeier (Madison, Wisc. / James Madison Memorial) and senior Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y. /
Great Neck South) clinched another point with an 8-5 win. The #1 duo of junior David Aizenberg (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) and sophomore Anupreeth Coramutla (Monroe Township, N.J./Phillips Andover) completed the sweep by a score of 8-5.

In singles action, it was rookie Tzeng to give the Judges their first singles victory at #4 with scores of, 6-3, 6-0, while at #2, sophomore Coramutla went on to win in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, clinching the win The Judges expanded their lead with a win by rookie Chen at #5, 6-4, 6-4, while at #6 senior Ng closed out the victory in a three-set match, 2-6, 7-6, 10-1.

Bates two points came off wins at #1 and #3 but the Judges were able to withhold and secure the 7-2 victory.

The Judges are back in action on Saturday against Tufts University at Natick Racquet Club, at 3:30 p.m.
