WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team won all but the bottom of the flights today as the Judges rolled past MIT, 7-2, outdoors at the Cordish Tennis Center today. With the win, the Judges, ranked #15 in the nation in Division III by the ITA, improve to 9-3 on the season. The #32-ranked Engineers fall to 6-4.

The teams split the first two doubles matches to complete, with Brandeis taking #2, 8-1, with the team of junior Hunter Levine (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) and sophomore Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) earning the win. MIT's Sundeep Chakladar and Wayne Nelms tied things up with an 8-3 win at #3. That left Brandeis seniors Jeffrey Chen (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) and Adam Tzeng (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle) to earn the go-ahead point with an 8-2 win at #1.

In singles action, Tzeng quickly dispatched the Engineers' Derek Shen for the second time, 6-3, 6-0, at #1. Senior Colt Tegtmeier (Madison, Wisc./James Madison Memorial) earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at #4 to get the Judges within one point of victory, and junior Simon Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette) clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at #5.

In the final round of matches to finish up, MIT got on the board with a 7-5, 6-0, win by Richter Jordaan at #6 over Levine. Chen won the day's only three-set match at #2, 1-6, 6-4, 10-5, with the third a super tie-breaker. Walters also needed a tiebreaker for his win, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4), at #3.

The Judges will look to earn their first 10-win season since 2019 when they travel on Sunday to #25 Babson.
