#14 men's tennis heads to UAA 5th-place match with 5-0 win over Rochester

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team had little trouble with the University of Rochester in the consolation semifinals of the University Athletic Association tournament today at Sanlando Park in Florida today, earning a 5-0 win. With the win, the 14th-ranked Judges improve to 11-6 on the season, while the Yellowjackets fall to 7-8.

Brandeis opened with a 3-0 lead after doubles. Seniors Jeffrey Chen (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) and Adam Tzeng (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle) rolled to an 8-2 win at #1. Junior Hunter Levine (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) and sophomore Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) were 8-3 winners at #2. First-year Aryan Nijhawan (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Westborough) and senior Colt Tegtmeier (Madison, Wisc./James Madison Memorial) complete the sweep, 8-2, at #3.

In singles action, the Judges won five out of six first sets, three of which were by 1-0 scores. Chen finished off Pasquale Procaccino, 6-1, 6-2, at #2, and sophomore Chen Liang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai Pinghe School) wrapped up the victory, 6-1, 6-0, at #6.

Brandeis will meet 22nd-ranked Carnegie Mellon tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. in the UAA fifth-place match.
