WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis men's tennis team took on a conference opponent today as the University of Rochester visited Gosman Athletic Center. The #24 ranked Judges took care of business against the Yellowjackets, winning 8-1.
TEAM RECORDS AND RANKINGS
- Brandeis: 5-4, 24th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
- Rochester: 4-4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Brandeis men swept the doubles matches on the day.
- The doubles teams of first-year Tommy Harrison (London, England / National Extension College)/junior Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md. / Gilman School) at #1 and seniors Simon Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo. / Marquette H.S.)/Hunter Levine (Weston, Fla. / Cypress Bay) at #2 won their matches 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.
- The other doubles team of junior Chen Liang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai Pinghe School) and first-year Alex Merson (Palisades Park, N.J. / Tenafly) won their match 8-2 at #3
- In singles action, the Judges won #1 through #5 and only surrendered #6.
- Walters (#1), Kauppila (#3), Merson (#4), and junior Aaron Basye (Mission Viejo, Calif. / Tesoro) (#5) all won their matches in straight sets.
- Kauppila, however, was pushed to a tiebreaker in the first set, which he won.
- Harrison dropped the first set, but came back to win the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at #2.
UP NEXT
The Judges return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 26 at 1 PM when the #30 ranked Skidmore Thoroughbreds visit Brandeis.
