Judges Best MIT on the Road 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brandeis men's tennis team made the short trip to Cambridge for their match with MIT today. The Judges took control early and did not look back as they beat the Engineers 6-3.

 

TEAM RECORDS AND RANKINGS

  • Brandeis: 9-5, 31st in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
  • MIT: 8-9, 36th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Judges started off hot by sweeping the doubles matches.
  • The doubles team of seniors Simon Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo. / Marquette H.S.) and Hunter Levine (Weston, Fla. / Cypress Bay) had the most decisive victory for Brandeis, winning their match 8-2 at #2.
  • Levine continued his day with a singles win as well.
  • After dropping the first set, he battled back to win the match 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 at #6 singles.
  • The other singles matches were won by first-years Tommy Harrison (London, England / National Extension College) and Alex Merson (Palisades Park, N.J. / Tenafly).
  • Harrison won a hard-fought match at #2 singles 7-6, 7-6 (7-3).
  • Merson had the quickest match of the day, finishing off his opponent 6-1, 6-1 at #5 singles.

  • The Judges return to action Wednesday, April 12 when the United States Coast Guard Academy visits Brandeis for a 3 PM match.
