Men's track finishes third at Bowdoin tri-meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- In their first scored meet of the season, the Brandeis men's track and field team placed third, behind host Bowdoin and the University of Southern Maine on Jan. 18. The Judges had three individual winners on the day.

Sophomore Dan Anastos (Salem, Mass./Peabody Veterans) topped teammate Zach Schwartz (Newton, Conn./Newton) in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:55.18. Anastos won the race by five seconds. Rookie Marc Boutin (Westford, Mass./Westford Acad.) and sophomore Sam Donovan (Newton, Mass./Newton South) were much closer in their wins. Boutin took the 1,000-meter run by 0.51 seconds over a Bowdoin runner with a time of 2:38.17, while Donovan edged a Polar Bear competitor in the 800-meters with a time of 1:58.76, just 0.07 seonds ahead. Finally, rookie Myles Tyrer-Vassell (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) captured the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.07 seconds.
