BOSTON, Mass.--The Brandeis men and women’s track and field teams competed for the first time this season at the Jay Casirella Invitational on Saturday, December 4 hosted by Northeastern University. It was a non-scoring meet.

On the women’s side, the Judges had two top-five finishes in the meet. Junior Lily Parenteau (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) finished in fourth place in the high jump, with a height of 1.57 meters.  Senior Lucia Capano (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central) finished fourth in the triple jump, with a distance of 10.92 meters.  Capano also finished in sixth place in the long jump (5.12 meters) and in 13^th place in preliminaries of the 55 meter dash (7.61). 

Sophomore Kim Farrington (Shirley, Mass./Ayer) finished in 7^th place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.45 meters.  The women’s 4x400 meter relay finished in fourth place.

On the men’s side, Brandeis put two rookies in the top 10.  Rookie Vincent Asante (Bronx, N.Y./High School for Arts Imagination and Inquiry) came in fourth place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.61 seconds. His time of 6.56 seconds in the prelims was just two-hundredths of a second off the school record.  Classmate Taylor Dundas (Bath, Maine/Cheverus) finished the 1 mile race in seventh place with a time of 4:27.53.  Asante also finished in 15^th place for the Judges in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.35. 

Sophomore Brian Foley (Foxboro, Mass./Foxborough) was the top finisher for the team in the 400 meter dash, coming in 21^st with a time of 51.90. In field events, Brandeis was led by rookie Kris Stinehart (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) who came in 39^th in the shot put, with a distance of 11.11 meters.

The Judges are next in action at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, December 11.
