Maddox paces men's track and field at BU and MIT

For the second time this season, the Brandeis University track and field teams split their squad between Boston University and MIT, running at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Gordon Kellly Invitational, respectively.

At the much larger meet at BU, the Judges ran a series of personal bests. Starting on Friday with the women's races, senior Danielle Bertaux (Prides Crossing, Mass./Beverly) finished in 37th place  in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:09.24. She was ninth among Division III runners and is ranked 45th overall in Division III this season.

Junior captain Andrea Bolduc (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) ran a p.r. in the mile with a time of 5:10.05, and is ranked ninth in the UAA. She was 132nd in the standings.

Sophomore All-American Devin Hiltunen (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) led a contingent in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. She finished 102nd in the 200 in 26.00 and 96th in the 400 in 59.54, breaking 1:00 for the second week in a row. In the 200, rookies Sydney D'Amaddio (Amston, Conn./RHAM) (27.41), Yahni Lapa (West Newton, Mass./Newton North) (27.87), and sophomore Anna Touitou (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) (26.71) rounded out the rest of the squad.

In the women's 800, junior Leini Valdez (Providence, R.I./Hope) ran a strong 2:24.30 and rookie Victoria Morrongiello (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) earning an all-time personal indoor best with a 2:23.90.

At MIT the next day, the women saw senior Willa Moen (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) post a pair of lifetime-bests, running 9.66 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and jumping 4.82 meters (15-9 ¾) in the long jump. She placed fourth and eighth, respectively. Fellow multi-event athlete junior Tessa Holleran (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) also had a p.r. in the hurdles, breaking 10 seconds for the first time in 9.99.

On the men's side at BU, senior Lorenzo Maddox (Atlanta, Ga./Maynard Jackson) had the team's top performance on Saturday, placing 25th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.20 seconds. He was eighth among Division III runners at the meet, four-hundredths of a second off his season-best time.

In the mile run, junior Josh Lombardo (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) and senior Alec Rodgers (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) ran season-best times in 4:21.89 and 4:25.56 respectively.

At MIT, sophomore Dion Morris-Evans (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) had the Judges' best run, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.81 seconds. Junior Aaron Baublis (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) was fourth in 9.33 seconds. Evans also placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.90m (6-2 ¾). Senior Jack Allan (Wrentham, Mass./King Phillip Regional) placed fifth with a distance of 6.29m (20-7 ¾).

The Judges will run at the USATF New England Championships next weekend at Harvard before heading to NYU for the UAA Championships on February 29 and March 1.
