WALTHAM, Mass. – Recent graduate Matthew Driben of Reading, Pennsylvania, of the Brandeis University men's cross country and track and field teams team has been named a second-team College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-American.

Driben was a three-time winner during cross-country season last fall for the Judges, capturing the Wellesley Invitational, the Keene State Invitational and the Connecticut College White Race. He was the team's top finisher at 2022 UAA Championships, placing 50th overall. During track and field season, he ran a sub-15-minute 5K at New Balance track this season. Driben earned All-New England honors in 2022, when he placed second in the 10,000-meter run. Outside of competition, Driben posted a 3.96 grade-point average, graduating with degrees in biology and Health: Science, Society and Policy. He earned Dean's List every semester and Academic All-UAA honors each season he was eligible. Driben was involved with the Waltham Group, Brandeis's community service organization. He will be attending medical school in his native Pennsylvania next year after winning the University's Linsey Fellowship.

Driben is Brandeis's third CSC Academic All-American of 2022-23, joining fellow recent graduates Juliette Carreiro of women's soccer and Maggie Shealy of women's fencing. He is the 32nd athlete overall to earn CSC Academic All-America honors and the fourth from the Judges' men's track and cross country program.
