Men's x-country takes 19th at Conn. College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Brandeis men's cross country team placed 19th out of 26 teams today at the 2021 Connecticut College Invitational.

Running an eight-kilometer for the second time this season, first-year runner Daniel Frost (Hanover, N.H. / Hanover) was the team's top performer. It was his first time as the team's number one competitor this season, with his time of 26:59.00 good for 91st overall. Frost was eight seconds off his previous career-best for 8K. Sophomore Walter Tebbetts (Amherst, Mass. / Amherst-Pelham Regional) was not far behind Frost as the team's second runner, placing 106th with a time of 27:32.40.

The Judges' next three runners all finished within six places and 16 seconds of each other, giving Brandeis a spread of just 1:22 from first to fifth. Junior Casey Brackett (Wakefield, Mass. / Wakefield Memorial) placed 129th with a time of 28:05.80, while sophomore Willem Goff (Pelham, Mass. / Amherst Regional) was four seconds behind in his first collegiate race, placing 134th with a time of 28:09.60. Senior captain Jac Guerra (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) rounded out the top five with a time of 28:21.10, good for 137th place.

Sophomore Samuel Kim (La Jolla, Calif./Phillips Exeter) was 147th with a time of 28:44.10, and rookie Lucas Dia (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) was 151st in 28:49.90 to round out Brandeis's top seven.

The meet included eight top-35 teams in the latest USTFCCCA national poll. The Judges were running without senior Matthew Driben (Reading, Pa./Wyomissing), their top performer at the season's previous three meets.
