MILTON, Mass. -- Brandeis University sophomore pitcher Natalie
Volpe (Southington, Conn.) went 3-3 with two RBI and a pair of
doubles to aid her own cause as the Judges defeated Curry College,
5-4, snapping a five-game losing streak in the process.
With the Judges ahead, 3-2, in the seventh inning, Volpe hit a key
RBI double to add a cushion run. Rookie Victoria Roomet came home
on an RBI grounder by senior Bri Smith (Tewksbury, Mass.) to put
Brandeis ahead 5-2. The Judges would need the insurance runs as
Curry added two in the bottom of the frame, but Volpe got of the
jam to earn her sixth win of the season.
In addition to Volpe's performance, Smith went 2-3 with a double
and two RBI, while senior Elissa Glucksman (Stamford, Conn.) was
2-3 with a run scored.
