On Sunday, March 24, the Brandeis softball team welcomed its newest member into the locker room. The Judges issued a locker and uniform number 1 to Christina Dangond, age 7, of Weston, through the efforts of Team IMPACT (http://www.goteamimpact.org/). The Quincy-based non-profit organization matches children who face life-threatening illness with local college athletic teams. Team IMPACT was recently featured prominently on ESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/boston/story/_/id/9094798/team-impact-unites-sick-kids-college-athletes).

Christina, who suffers from rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the muscles, will be part of the Judges' team throughout the 2013 season and beyond. "Christina has incredible energy," said Brandeis head coach Jessica Johnson. "Even with her extensive treatment schedule, she is incredibly active and positive!"
