WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University junior Amanda Genovese of North Haven, Conn., was named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Tournament Team for softball yesterday. It is the second-straight year that the centerfielder was named to the team, after she was selected as the co-MVP a season ago.

Genovese batted at a .433 clip on the week, fourth best in the conference. She led a Brandeis offense that hit .307 as a team and had 81 hits, both second best in the UAA. Genovese tied for the conference lead with 13 hits and was fifth in total bases with 17. Brandeis' all-time leader in steals also had two stolen bags, as well as four runs and six RBIs.

Genovese had at least two hits in four different games, including a 4-for-6 performance during an 11-inning, 2-0 victory over the No. 18 Washington University Bears on March 11. She had two hits and a pair of RBIs in wins over both Case Western and No. 9 Emory.

Brandeis finished 3-5 at the UAA Tournament, and is 9-5 overall in head coach Jessica Johnson's eighth year at the helm. The Judges' games this weekend have been postponed, but Brandeis is scheduled to host Emerson on Tuesday.

Genovese is a 2011 graduate of North Haven High School. She is the daughter of Mark and Caren Genovese, North Haven, Conn.
