Todd named UAA Pitcher of the Week for collegiate debut

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandeis University rookie pitcher Scottie Todd of Tampa, Fla., has been selected as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Pitcher of the Week for softball for the week ending Feb. 26.

      Pitching back in her home state of Florida, Todd started the season opener against NAIA Middle Georgia State College. She pitched her way to her first collegiate victory, going the distance, surrendering just one run on eight hits and no walks in seven innings. Todd struck out five of the Middle Georgia hitters to lead the Judges to a 3-1 victory.

Todd was even better in her next start the following day against York College (Pa.). In an eight-inning pitcher's duel, Todd came out on top, going all eight innings while allowing just one run. She scattered just two hits and three walks over the game while collecting six strikeouts.

      The rookie made two more appearances during the Florida trip where threw a total of six innings while not allowing an earned run. Todd boasts a 0.67 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 21 innings of work. Her record on the year is 2-0.

      Todd is a 2016 graduate of Strawberry Crest High School.
