WALTHAM, Mass. –Brandeis University softball sophomore Alex Cohen of West Palm Beach, Florida, has earned her first career All-Region honors, taking home third-team All-Region II recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as a pitcher/designated player.

Cohen had a terrific all-around campaign for the Judges to earn All-University Athletic Association  honors for the second year in a row. In the circle, she went 11-5 with six complete games, plus one save in relief posting a 2.40 earned-run average. Cohen was second in the UAA with 105 strikeouts, just the seventh season of 100 or more Ks in school history.  She tied for third in the league in wins and was sixth in ERA. She was twice named UAA Pitcher of the Week. At the plate, Cohen was second on the team with a .311 batting average and led the squad with 11 doubles. She had 19 RBI, 18 runs scored and one home run.

This marks the second-straight year that the Judges had a pitcher named to the All-Region squad, after senior Sydney Goldman of Sherman Oaks, California, was honored in 2021.

In their second season under head coach Dani Bishop, the Brandeis University softball team ended their 2022 season with a 22-18 record, their 14th 20-win season in program history. The Judges will return six starters for the 2023 campaign, including Cohen.

Cohen is a 2020 graduate of The Benjamin School.
