NEW YORK, NY -- The Brandeis University women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season today, falling at NYU, 70-68. The loss sends the Judges, ranked No. 2 in the nation by d3hoops.com, to 10-1 overall for the season, 2-1 in the UAA, while NYU improves to 12-1, 2-1 in conference.

With the game tied at 68-68, and 8.6 seconds left on the clock, NYU junior Adrienne Rochetti took a missed Brandeis free throw the length of the court for the game-winning bucket. Despite outscoring the Violets, 25-15, from the free throw line, a season-high 27 turnovers hurt the Judges.

Sophomore guard Jaime Capra (Old Bridge, N.J.) led the Judges in scoring with 20 points, with senior Christine Clancy (Yarmouth, Maine) and junior Caitlin Malcolm (Windsor Locks, Conn.) both adding 17. Malcolm led all players with 11 rebounds, recording her third double-double of the season.

NYU was paced by 20 points from Kaite Higier, 12 from Rochetti and 10 each from Stephanie Ryba and Chiene Jones.
