Chapin's first double-double leads five in double figures as No. 13 women blow by Case, 79-66

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Brandeis University junior guard Jessica Chapin (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) registered the first double-double of her career tonight to lead the Judges to a 79-66 victory over Case Western Reserve University in a University Athletic Association contest. Chapin had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead five Brandeis players in double figures. The Judges improved to 12-2 on the season, 2-2 in the UAA, while Case fell to 8-7, 1-3 UAA.

Chapin connected on 6-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, and all six of her free throws. She became the fourth player in Brandeis women's history with 100 career 3-pointers in the process. In addition to her 10 boards, a season- and game-high, Chapin also had three steals and two blocked shots. She had 10 points and seven rebounds in the first half as the Judges took a 26-21 lead.

Junior guard Lauren Rashford (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) added 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, while senior forward Lauren Orlando (Peabody, Mass./Peabody) had a perfect shooting night, going 4-for-4 from the field, 1-for-1 from downtown and 4-for-4 from the line for 13 points.

Senior Cassidy Dadaos (Healdsburg, Calif./Healdsburg) added 11 points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward Amber Strodthoff (DePere, Wisc./DePere) rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points off the bench. The Judges converted 23 Case turnovers into a 24-12 advantage in points off turnovers, while outscoring the Spartans by a 22-9 margin from the free-throw line. After shooting just 27.6 percent (8-29) from the field in the first half, the Judges connected on 58.6 percent (17-29) in the second to pull away.

Case was paced by junior guard Ashleigh Tondo (McDonald, Ohio), who just missed game-high honors with 19 points. Tondo got her points with 5-of-18 shooting, including 4-of-11 from downtown. She also hit 5-of-6 from the line. Sophomore guard Caitlin Henry (Fairfax, Va.) added 13 points, while rookie Kate Clancy (Sewickley, Pa.) added 12 off the bench for the Spartans. Rookie center Erin Hollinger (Chardon, Ohio) led the hosts with six rebounds.

Brandeis is next in action on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Emory University, while Case hosts NYU at the same time.
