Dobson double-double not enough as the women fall to Chicago, 67-50

The Brandeis women's basketball team fell behind early and weren't able to battle back against University Athletic Association opponent Chicago University in a lopsided 67-50 decision.

Brandeis (9-6, 1-3 UAA) gave up an early lead to Chicago (9-6, 3-1 UAA) who scored the game's first seven points. Junior forward Tori Dobson (Greenwich, Conn./ Greenwich) scored first for the Judges on a free throw that came 4:30 into the game. She also scored less than a minute later to gain some momentum for her team. Chicago went on a 10-2 over a span of four and a half minutes to give them a double-digit lead that remained for the rest of the game. The Judges and Maroons traded buckets late that gave Chicago an advantage at half time,  32-22.

Using the momentum they had at the end of the first half, Chicago rallied on another four-minute run of 11-1. They pushed the lead as far as 28 points and never looked back winning the game with a 67-50 score.

The leading scorers for the Judges were sophomore guard Paris Hodges (Southampton, N.Y. /Southampton) with 12 points and Tori Dobson with 13. Dobson also led the team with 11 rebounds which marked the first time in her career she earned a double-double and a career-high for each.

Chicago got most of their points from the bench as junior guard Caitlin Moore (Grosse pointe, Mich. /Grosse Pointe South) and senior forward Hannah Ballard (Oak Park, Ill. /Fenwick) each led the team with ten points. The Maroons were able capitalize on their second chances by getting 22 points. They also managed 23 points off of turnovers.

Brandeis looks to break their two-game losing streak when they take on UAA opponent, Washington U. in a matinee game on Sunday, January 25th starting at 2:00PM.
