WALTHAM, Mass. – Nine of 11 active players scored points tonight as the Brandeis University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 72-38 victory over Simmons College in Red Auerbach Arena. The win improved the Judges to 4-2 on the season as they snapped a two-game losing skid, while the Sharks fell to 1-3 on the season.

All 11 Judges played at least 10 minutes tonight. Junior forward Sydney Sodine (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) led the way in scoring with 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Ten of her points came in the first half, six in the second quarter. Sodine also had six rebounds and tied for game-high honors with four steals.

Junior Frankie Pinto (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) added 12 points – eight in the first half – and connected on three 3-pointers. Sophomore Noel Hodges (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) also reached double digits in scoring, notching nine of her 11 points in the second half. She tied for team-high honors with four assists.

Rookie Emma Curnin (Topsham, Maine/Kent Hill Acad.) was just shy of a double-double with eight points and a game-high eight rebounds, both career-bests. Curnin helped Brandeis outrebound Simmons, 41-29, for the game.

The visitors had two players score in double figures, with sophomore Presley Silva (Wilmington, Mass./Arlington Catholic) and senior Gracie Rolfe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) each notching 10 points. Rolfe led the Sharks with six rebounds, tied with junior Ashley McAdams (Freeport, N.Y./Baldwin Senior). Simmons junior Jamie Zoldy (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) led all players with five assists.

Brandeis was in control for the entire game, opening up a 10-2 lead just over four minutes into the contest. The Judges built a 17-5 lead after one quarter and hit 11-of-17 from the field in the second as they outscored the Sharks 24-6 to take a 41-11 lead into the locker room. With 10 first-half points, Sodine nearly outscored the visitors by herself.

Simmons rallied in the third, outscoring Brandeis, 18-14, as they shot a game-high 46.7 percent. The Judges held Simmons to single digit scoring in the fourth, 17-9. Both teams were 4-for-12 from the floor in the final 10 minutes, but Brandeis outscored the Sharks, 9-1, from the free-throw line.

Brandeis returns to action Saturday 1 p.m. when they travel to Johnson and Wales University. Simmons looks to bounce back at home on Thursday night at 7 p.m. against Fisher College.
